Zen Pencils is a webcomic I started in 2012. It’s tagline “Cartoon quotes from inspirational folks” says it all - I take famous quotes, poems and book excerpts and adapt them into fun and inspirational comics. Zen Pencils has been featured by The Washington Post, Buzzfeed, National Geographic, The AV Club, Brain Pickings and was named one of the internet’s best 100 websites by PCMag in 2013. It has also been collected into 4 books published by Andrews McMeel, two of which landed on the New York Times bestseller list for graphic novels.

I worked on Zen Pencils full-time for over six years, completing over 200 comics read by thousands of loyal fans from all over the world. It is the body of work I am most proud of and I think the archives is one of the best sources of motivation and self-help that can be found online. Many readers have told me that Zen Pencils has changed their lives for the better and it has enriched my life in a way I didn’t think drawing cartoons could. Zen Pencils is currently on hiatus as I take time to focus on making kids comics with Super Sidekicks, but the website is still active and I recommend you visit the NEW READER page if you’re looking for a motivational boost.
